Dr. George Alexandrakis, is a Senior Scientist at the Institute of Applied and Computational Mathematics of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas.
His current research interests include modelling, measurements and surveys of coastal processes, coastal oceanography, risk and vulnerability analysis, coastal zone management and spatial planning issues for coastal areas in Natural and Cultural Heritage sites. Moreover he is responsible for the design field surveys and the deployment of the environmental monitoring equipment of the Coastal & Marine Research Lab (CMRL) and the FIXLAB and MOLAB of CMRL for the ERHIS European research Infrastructure and also Operator and responsible of CMRLs, Unmanned Airial Vechicals (UAV), Underwater Remote Operating Vehicles (ROV) and wave measurements equipment, also CMRL scientific diver. For the period 2016-2020, he was collaborative researcher in INGV-OV Naples, Italy, as a Scientific Responsible in the BRAINS2ISLANDS project, which investigates the risk from natural hazards on archaeological sites in the Aeolian Islands, Italy. He has participated as a researcher in 16 research projects and has 26 publications on journals, 5 book chapters and more than 83 conference proceedings.
