Title:
Universal displacements, nonlocal elasticity, phase
transitions in living matter, implicit constitutive relations
Abstract:
I will present my current research interests including:
1. universal displacements in Cauchy's elasticity, strain gradient as well as
micropolar elasticity, 2. Riemann invariants, blow up and existence for some
nonlocal nonlinear elasticity problems, 3. phase transitions in morphogenetical
processes of living matter, 4. hyperbolicity for implicit theories.
Short Bio:
Dimitris Sfyris is a Principal Researcher at IACM/FORTH. He holds a Mathematics degree from University of Ioannina, a MSc degree from Applied Mathematics, NTUA and a PhD from University of Thessaloniki. His research focuses primarily on problems from Mechanics, including elasticity and plasticity themes. He uses a broad spectrum of techniques from applied mathematics including partial differential equations, integro-differential equations, differential geometry as well as group theory.
