As part of this contract awarded by the Ministry of National Planning and the Regional Government of Crete IACM’s researchers studied the structure of the labor markets in the island of Crete. Employment was analyzed by occupation and sector and future trends were identified for the next five years. The results of the study will be used for setting up goals and objectives for the new regional plan (years 2000-2006). As part of the same contract procedures were established up for determining every year the state of the regional economy and for identifying issues related to unemployment.
