EMPHIS
Euro-Mediterranean Public Health Information System

The EMPHIS project includes partners from several Arab and European countries and its objective is to use information technology to address issues related to three infectious diseases, namely, leishmaniasis (ZCL), tuberculosis (TB) and nosocomial infections (NI). FORTH is involved on the application for ZCL and for TB. In the ZCL application the goal is to set up an SDSS consisting of a GIS and statistical models of the spread of the disease that can be used for monitoring and control, risk assessment, early warning, as well as safe land use and tourism planning. The system will be applied in Tunisia and Jordan. In the TB application the objective is to set up a multiplayer system in order to diagnose, report, treat and follow-up TB patients. The system will be applied in Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco.
