Scope of the Workshop

The scope of the 12th workshop of the ERCIM Working Group Environmental Modelling is to assemble the members of the group and any interested scientist from engineering, computer science, applied mathematics, physics or other specialization involved in environmental modelling, to present their research work and discuss on the current trends and developments of the field.

The topics of the workshop include:

·Data and image processing
Geographic information and decision support systems
Grid computing
Information technologies
Numerical methods
Remote sensing
Risk management
Simulation techniques

Organization

The workshop is organized by the Institute of Applied & Computational Mathematics, FORTH.

It will take place during the main event of the ERCIM Meetings-Crete 2004 organized by the Institute of Computer Science, FORTH

Registration

People interested to participate to the 12th ERCIM WG Environmental Modelling workshop have to visit the web page of the ERCIM Meetings-Crete 2004, which is the main event under which the workshop of the group will be held. A registration form should be filled for the central organizers, indicating the particular workshop and any other events and meetings they indent to attend. Accommodation arrangement is also possible through the same page.
A copy of the registration form or a separate notice indicating your intention to participate to the 12th ERCIM WG Environmental Modelling workshop should be also addressed to kampanis@iacm.forth.gr.

Submission of Abstracts

Speakers should send an abstract (including the title to be announced, authors, speaker and duration) of their presentation by eMail to kampanis@iacm.forth.gr by May, the 10th. This deadline should not be exceeded so that the program of the workshop will be ready and available by May, the 17th.

It is indented that the papers which will be presented at the workshop will be subsequently published in a special issue of the journal Systems Analysis Modelling Simulation, Taylor & Francis Group. Authors will be notified later for the deadline for submission and the number of pages for the full paper.

ERCIM

The European Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics is an organization dedicated to the advancement of European Research and development in the areas of information technology and applied mathematics. ERCIM aims to foster collaborative work within the European research community and to increase co-operation with European Industry. Leading research establishments from fourteen European countries are members of ERCIM.

The purpose of an ERCIM working group is to build and maintain a network of ERCIM researchers in a particular scientific field. A working group is open to anybody affiliated with an ERCIM institute that has decided to participate in the working group. The activities of a working group can be subdivided into three areas: workshops, project proposals, mobility and fellows. Workshops are open to any researcher in the field.
