Eleni Metaxa is a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Applied and Computational Mathematics, Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas. She holds a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from National Technical University of Athens and a Master of Engineering and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Her research interests are in the area of vascular biomechanics and aneurysm pathology. Eleni gained experience with in vitro experiments with endothelial cells and animal studies on intracranial aneurysm research during her PhD. She currently works with Dr. Yanni Papaharilaou and uses computational finite element analysis for studying the stresses on abdominal aortic aneurysm walls in an effort to identify markers of increased rupture risk of aneurysms in patients.
