Zina Mitraka is currently a research fellow in the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas, Greece and a PhD candidate in the Geoinformation Program of the Tor Vergata University of Rome, Italy. She studied Applied Mathematics in the University of Crete, Greece and she also holds a MSc on Environmental Engineering from the Technical University of Crete, Greece. She has been a trainee in European Space Agency for two years. She has experience working on research and development projects in a wide range of topics mainly focusing on optical and thermal satellite remote sensing with particular focus on the urban environment and the urban climate. She has extensive experience in image processing methods development. Her scientific interests mainly concern the study of urban environment using multispectral and hyperspectral optical and thermal data with focus on algorithms development for biophysical parameters estimation and the exploitation of Earth Observation data by numerical models. She is an author of a number of scientific publication in peer-review journals and she has presented her research at numerous national and international conferences. She is also acting as a reviewer for scientific peer-review journals.
