Dr Kamarianakis' research is in the area of statistical space-time models with emphasis in transportation and environmental applications. Dr Kamarianakis has published many papers on the subjects of traffic forecasting and incident detection in urban networks and on the statistical analysis of remotely sensed data. His research appeared in prestigious journals such as Environmental Science and Technology, Journal of Climate, Remote Sensing of Environment, Journal of Geophysical Research, International Journal of Epidemiology, Applied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry and Transportation Research Part C. In addition to his published research, Dr Kamarianakis has worked on the development of IBM's Traffic Prediction Tool and has filed 3 U.S. Patents. Before joining IACM-FORTH as a principal researcher, Dr Kamarianakis worked as Assistant Professor at the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences, Arizona State University (2013-2018), as a postdoc researcher at the Mathematical Sciences Department, IBM T.J. Watson Research Center (2010-2013), and as a postdoc at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Cornell University (2008-2010).
